Welcome to the Ptarmigans |
The Ptarmigans are a group of people that gather to share outdoor adventures; we mountain and rock climb, hike, canoe/kayak, bicycle, and participate in activities to preserve local trails and wilderness areas. |

What's up with the Ptarmigans? |
We are having a special meeting to decide the future of the club. With insurance problem, rent hike on the meeting place and low participation, it seems that the club has become stagnant. Do we continue or not?
To make this decision, we want to poll and hear from members on the future of the club.
Please attend a special meeting on Tuesday, Sept 11th at Lucky Lab, 1945 NW Quimby at 7pm.
If you cannot attend but want your thoughts to be considered, please contact Rustica Carlos or one of the board members with your thoughts.
Your opinion counts! |

Pretty good slideshow coming up! |

While not a Ptarmigan event per say, this is a must attend if you are interested in climbing - What do you do if you and your climbing partner have fallen in a crevasse and any rescue is weeks away? How do you survive a night near the top of K2 alone with no water, no tent, no sleeping bag? How do you reconcile a career of Himalayan climbing involving deaths of climbing partners with family responsibilities? To hear the answers to these questions and more come to an evening with Jim Wickwire, one of the first two Americans to climb K2 and author of Addicted to Danger. He will be giving a slideshow of his climbing life titled "K2 and Beyond" at 8 PM Sat. May 19th at the Grant H.S. Auditorium Cost: just $8 Contact: Mazama member and Grant H.S. teacher Doug Winn at 503 232-7406 (Grant H.S. at 2245 NE 36th is easy to find just a few blocks north of NE Broadway. If you take I 205, turn on the Banfield Fwy going toward Portland, then take the 43rd St. Exit. If you go south on I 5, take the Dalles Exit onto the Banfield Fwy, then take the 33rd St Exit.)
